I’m back. To those who know me: hello again! And to those who don’t: here I am, and it’s nice to meet you.

I’ve been on a heck of a journey since I started SheTaxi. When I launched the site in 2011, I wanted to change the world for women–no joke. I was tired of the unrealistic expectations and superficial ways that women are represented in our culture. I was angry, and wanted to “be the change I wanted to see in the world.” I haven’t lost that desire. What I have done is focused on tangible and realistic ways that a woman can do that.

I went through a life and health crisis in my 30’s. At the time, I knew I wanted to live my life differently, and as a result, I researched and studied people I admired. I was curious to know what they were doing that I wasn’t. Through my research, I learned that the commonality between all of them is that they care for their mind, body and spirit. I decided I was going to learn how to do the same, so that I could be happier, healthier and more prosperous.

I did and have done just that. Over three years, I journaled each step I took on my Road to Well-Being and I am sharing that journey with you. For the first time in my life, I felt good and I wanted other women to feel like that too. The Road to Well-Being is not easy and it does not end. It’s a life-long journey, and if you’re someone who is not very good at taking care of yourself, it’s essential that you start learning how today!

road-220058_1280I am embarrassed to say that I have back-slid the last couple years in my well-being. In 2012, I put SheTaxi on hold, went back to work full-time, and dealt, not in a healthy way, with some depression brought on by some major life changes. There are some things that I am doing well in taking care of myself, and others I am really bombing. I am a wonderful emotional eater, and won’t turn down a glass of wine from anyone who offers it. As a result, I have gained weight, become out-of-shape, beat myself up emotionally and feel like I am back at “square one.”

I have delayed and delayed re-launching SheTaxi, and ultimately, making the Road to Well-Being available, because I have thought, “how can I talk about taking care of yourself, when I am a great example of someone who hasn’t?” My dear friends and supporters have said, “that’s all the more reason why you need to launch it, because you’re example of what happens in life, and that it’s not easy.”

A few friends always say to me, “women need this Peg. They need the Road to Well-Being.”

I am mad that I have become very focused on my physical self, because this is exactly what I did for the first 38 years of my life. And, it got me nowhere. NOWHERE! When I feel bad about myself, I do things that make myself feel worse than better. I let the superficial influences seep back in and get side-tracked from keeping the priority on my inner self. By writing this blog, I am being real and honest about myself, and it scares the heck out of me!

For most of my life, I have been really good at making life seem like “all is well.” Putting a smile on my face is easy–I call it my “game face.” I am really good at hiding any depression, anxiety, or insecurities that are simmering, (or should I say, boiling,) inside me.

At SheTaxi, it’s all about your inner self. I am ready to do the work to get to where I want to be in my life. I’d much rather be where I was five years ago in my mind, body and spirit–life was easier then.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that I need to stay connected with people who are on the same journey as myself. As I mentioned, I am really good at the “game face,” and when that face started showing up more than the authentic face–that’s when I got into trouble. I need a support system of women who are journeying with me. Remember that old saying, “it takes a village to raise a child”? Well, it does, no matter what age that child is.

Come join me on the Road to Well-Being and start focusing on what really matters–your inner self. Your mind, body and spirit will thank you. Hop in!
